Roller Coaster, Take 2

More ups and downs on the AT Coaster

Today's 7+ mile hike was entirely within the "Roller Coaster" section of the AT. True to its name, the ups and downs never quit. If I didn't have my feet on solid ground, I would've gotten motion sickness. We went to a small, local Methodist church in the morning, so we didn't start hiking until the afternoon. I admit I underestimated how long the Coaster would take us, and we ended up hiking right up until dinnertime. The days are so much shorter now, and we don't get as long to hike in the evenings. It's amazing how the seasons roll along without you, and before you even have a chance to realize it, it's the middle of September. Even though most of the hike was through the woods, we found a few pretty rocks to eat some muskadines on, and some other interesting things along the way.

Bear Den Rocks, our only view of the day

Any day riding roller coasters isn't complete without some amusement park food, and ending the day at the local Tastee Freeze for a chocolate malt was only fitting.

Mmmm Tastee
